Haemochromatosis UK once again occupied a prominent stand at the 2025 Balmoral Show in Northern Ireland. The show was attended by 110,000 people with many engaging with volunteers of the charity.

Across four gloriously sunny days in early May, Haemochromatosis UK provided information and support to hundreds of people attending the event. With support from The National Lottery Community Fund, thousands of leaflets, pens, lollies and plastic-free FE+ bags were distributed promoting the cause. With great help from volunteers Abigail, Angela, Clare, Finbar, Heather, Mairead and Michael we there very many conversations with individuals and families about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.

Northern Ireland Health Minister, Mike Nesbitt MLA dropped by to offer support, fresh from speaking at the launch of the Northern Ireland Screening Report at Stormont in February

NI Health Minister Mike Nesbitt with Volunteer Claire and Neil Irwin (Philanthropy Manager)Although there was very much improved awareness of the condition, we were still shocked to hear of many experiences retelling haemochromatosis myths. It was great to be able to refer people to our National Helpline staffed by qualified, registered nurses with specialist knowledge to help. https://www.haemochromatosis.org.uk/helpline
