In view of St Paul's cathedral, HUK joined other patient organisations at this BSR Patient Voices in Rheumatology event based in London, to raise the value for clinicians of the patient voice in Rheumatology.

Hearing talks from 'expert patients' reminded clinicians of the need to listen to the patient and the importance of signposting their patients to the vital support services widely available. All speakers spoke highly of the support  charities and organisations offered, such as patient forums, informal chats and 1-2-1 connections. Very similar to our Haemochromatosis UK social gatherings, also known as Iron Brews and the support offered by our ‘Iron Overload Buddies’. For medical support, reassurance and advice, we also have our Helpline run by our Specialist Iron Nurses, and our ANP appointments

We are thankful for the support of The National Lottery Community Fund in England which enables us to engage in a wide range of family support activity.
