On November 4th the European Alliance Of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) 2025 Classification Criteria for Haemochromatosis Arthropathy were published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
Professor Patrick Kiely, Consultant Rheumatologist at St George's Hospital in London, led a 'task force' of clinician experts and patient research partners, to create these unique criteria using rigorous methodology. They are designed to enable good quality research studies,  and stimulate academic interest, to advance our understanding and ultimately to develop new treatments to stop the progression of joint disease in people with Haemochromatosis.

He has asked us to send a message of sincere thanks to all the HUK members who came to see him at St George's Hospital in London between 2022 and 2024, to be enrolled in the derivation cohorts that were required to create the classification criteria.
''The UK recruited more patients to the derivation cohorts than any of the other 11 sites in 9 other countries. Without your support, time and help these criteria would not have been created.  Your contribution has been amazing. Thank you all very, very much. You made this possible and I am extremely grateful''.
