The team from Haemochromatosis UK met recently with NHS Blood & Transplant to discuss future collaboration. Our shared aim is to encourage more people within our community to manage their condition through regular blood donation, while also exploring how access to blood donation services in England can better meet both patient and service needs.

We agreed to work together to develop a number of collaborative initiatives, which we hope will improve information sharing and resources, whilst also spotlighting areas of priority.

Through speaking with our supporters, we know a common concern for those undergoing Venesection treatment is that the blood taken during Venesection is not donated. Our ambition is to enable as many of our community as possible to be able to access blood donation so that treatment can be successfully managed, and the collected blood can be used where it is needed most.
