Thank You for Supporting our Christmas Appeal 2024 This is a note of thanks for everyone who supported our Christmas Appeal in 2024. We have reached an impressive total of £3,764 online including Gift Aid, with the odd amount still coming in. And while this is just a bit short of our target of £5,000, it still represents our great total. Thank You! Rest assured that these funds are already being put to use on training doctors and nurses about haemochromatosis - exactly what you told us was a priority for the charity. As a charity with no NHS funding we depend on your ongoing generosity and hope we can continue to earn your support throughout 2025 with many challenges ahead. We will report later on some of the initiatives these gifts had made possible. You can still give to the appeal if you haven't already done so by visiting the appeal website. Here is a flavour of some of the comments left by our donors: "No one should die from haemochromatosis. Let’s work together to raise awareness of the condition." Heather "My husband died in just over one month after this disease was diagnosed. More research needs to be carried out and all GPs should be taught the early signs of this awful disease." Leila "I was fortunate to have a test as part of a campaign in Aberdeenshire last year. I discovered I was a carrier but do not have the condition. I hope my donation helps continue to raise awareness" Anon. "Thank you for the hard work you do" Karen "This is a very worthwhile charity and I am glad to donate as they help others so much." Maureen "let’s get everyone educated so more lives can be saved" Anon "It is a great idea to train medical staff. My nephew is being treated for mental problems, severe uncontrollable diabetes and other medical problems. he was tested ,for hemochromatosis (as his mother is a carrier).. unfortunately, although he has 2 genes he has not been referred to Haematologists as his ferritin level is not high enough. his GP had never heard of Hemochromatosis."
