The Welsh National Lottery Community Fund has enabled Haemochromatosis UK to hold two, very special, face-to-face Iron Brews in Wales on 17/06/25 and 18/06/25. One in Wrexham, and on in Cardiff.

In Wrexham, bringing together people who are newly diagnosed with others who are years into maintenance meant that there were plenty of stories to share and questions raised - that nurse Victoria was happy to answer. It was the perfect opportunity for Victoria to tell people of the work the charity does and what it can offer to support those affected by GH.

Following on from the Wrexham Iron Brew, Victoria travelled South to meet guests at the 'Old library' in Cardiff. Attendees had the opportunity share their GH journey with the group, and it was reassuring for many to hear how they share many, perhaps less common symptoms of GH.

Victoria was joined by Jo and Kath from the Welsh Blood service, who are working on ways to smooth the pathway for GH donors in Wales. It was helpful for them to hear local people's experiences of diagnosis and treatment so they can aim to help get more people to donate blood.

Many topics were discussed over the course of the two days, and Victoria commented on how lovely it was to get out and about and meet local 'rusties' face to face! #TeamIronOverload would like to thank all those who attended. We also welcome any feedback and ideas for future get togethers.

Thank you, Wales- we'll be back soon!
