Exhibition Host – Belfast

Later this year, Haemochromatosis UK will be staging a photographic awareness raising exhibition – We Are Overloaded. We are seeking 4 Volunteer Exhibition Hosts to volunteer at our Belfast launch, which will be held at the Engine Room Gallery, North Street, Cathedral Quarter.

Volunteers will welcome guests to the exhibition, answer questions about the photographs/genetic haemochromatosis and act as guardians of the artwork for the public launch. At this event we will be inviting the public, elected representatives and policymakers to view the works, meet the artist and enjoy refreshments in a relaxed an convivial atmosphere.

What’s involved?

  • Helping setup and run the launch event Thursday 4th September 6pm-8pm (date TBC), to include:
    • serving drinks and snacks to guests,
    • chatting with guests about GH and the images
  • Tidying up at the end of the event, so the gallery is ready to re-open the following morning

What is the time commitment?

  • Around 3-4 hours on the launch date

What's NOT involved?

We do not expect our volunteers to :

  • Give medical advice, unless medically qualified to do so

What skills are useful in this role?

  • To be able to communicate effectively
  • The ability to work equally well in a team and unsupervised.
  • Be confident meeting and speaking to new people.
